Camilla Rosemary Shand was born at King’s College Hospital in London, England on 17 July 1947, the oldest child of Major Bruce Shand and The Hon. Rosalind Cubitt. She has two younger siblings, a sister Annabel (b. 1949), and a brother Mark (1951- 2014).
